<info>Version 2020-10-18

This version of MuldjordKit converted to Hydrogen drum kit has been assembled by roberto@zenvoid.org for the FreePats project. Due to limitations of the Hydrogen drum machine, it doesn't contain the same features of the original DrumGizmo kit. This is a stereo kit (2 channels) whereas the original provides 16 channels that can be selectively mixed to create many different sound renderings, and the number of layers is more limited as well. Anyways, it sounds good and it's a nice kit for the Hydrogen drum machine.

The original MuldjordKit for DrumGuizmo is made by Lars Muldjord (www.muldjord.com, www.drumgizmo.org). Published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License:

These sounds had been created by roberto@zenvoid.org with Yoshimi and Geonkick free software synthesizers, and edited with Audacity. They are an aproximation to drum kit sounds commonly used on vintage electronic music made with analog synthesizers.

The Hang is a pitched percussion instrument, made of steel and commonly played with the hands. This sounds have been created from a hang tuned in D minor. Thanks to Mar who kindly let us record her hang for the FreePats project and was the performer during the recording session.

It was recorded on July 2017, at the Medialab-Prado auditorium in Madrid (Spain), by Gonzalo <humanogonzalo@gmail.com> and Roberto <roberto@zenvoid.org>, using a Zoom H1 portable recorder mounted on a tripod.

The raw recordings were cropped, edited, and processed by Roberto, using free software programs.

The jaw harp (also known as Jew's harp) is an ancient instrument. It produces one pitch with many different variations made by the performer.

The sample pack of a jaw harp was sent by Eugene Vlaskin to the FreePats project, on February 2018: "I recorded this sample pack in autumn of 2017 in the North West of Sakhalin (in Nekrasovka) with the aid of Michail Chayka (a Nivkh musician who played jaw harp) and his mother N.K. Chayka. We used school sound equipment for this recording, so the quality is not very good but after processing in Audacity it seems to me good enough."

This Hydrogen kit has been put together by roberto@zenvoid.org. Other formats and raw sample pack may be downloaded from the FreePats web pages:

This sound bank has been created from real instrument recordings, thanks to Xavimart (Javier), a musician that maintains a collection of musical instruments from many places around the world. He granted us access to his collection and helped with the performance and recording.

Cajon flamenco, bongo, egg shaker, tambourine, castanets, maracas and darbuka: They were recorded on January 2019 by Xavimart, Gonzalo <humanogonzalo@gmail.com> and Roberto <roberto@zenvoid.org>, with two Zoom H1 portable recorders.

Hand clap: Recorded on June 2019 by Roberto <roberto@zenvoid.org>, with an AKG condenser microphone.

Claves and conga: Made from samples of the Versilian Community Sample Library, a CC0 sample library created by Versilian Studios LLC.

Future versions of this sound bank may contain more instruments.
